Preparatory Program
In the Tourism Guidance Department, which accepts students with a foreign language score type, there is a 1-year compulsory Foreign Language (English) Preparatory Class application. Students who are successful in the foreign language exemption exam held by Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University at the beginning of the academic year have the right to start from the first grade without being subject to the Preparatory Program. Students who do not take or fail the exemption exam are required to attend the Preparatory Program.
 
Tourism Guidance Department
With the theoretical and applied education to be given at the undergraduate level in the Tourism Guidance Department, she/he knows a foreign language at a good level, knows Turkey best with its history, culture and geography, has effective communication skills, can solve problems, can think analytically, has advanced management and organizational knowledge and skills, tolerance It is aimed to train qualified tourist guides and manager candidates who have basic social values ​​such as kindness, respect and honesty, have leadership and representation skills, follow the latest developments in world tourism, have a wide vision and are open to continuous development, and have the knowledge and skills required by the profession. The purpose of the Tourism Guidance department is the training of qualified tourist guides needed to introduce Turkey's original culture and values ​​to domestic and foreign tourists. In addition, it is to train qualified employees for different sectors under the umbrella of tourism. Our department students will have the opportunity to receive education in the sectoral fields that will increase their professional knowledge by taking their education and training in Muğla, one of the important tourism centers of our country. Students who acquire the knowledge infrastructure required by the profession will simultaneously improve their English and other foreign language skills of their choice. In addition to the basic foreign language English, the curriculum of the Tourism Guidance department includes optional foreign language German / French / Russian / Chinese / Arabic / Spanish. The education period of the program is 4 (four) years, excluding the preparatory class. In addition, candidates are offered basic tourism and management courses, vocational courses and practical courses for the profession.
Vission
It is aimed to have advanced knowledge and equipment in fields such as General Tourism, Anatolian Civilizations, Art History, Archeology, History of Religions, Mythology, Iconography, Tourism Geography, Flora and Fauna, Tourism Marketing, Guidance Professional Knowledge, Tourism Legislation, Communication, Business Administration, Management and Organization, First Aid and Health Sciences.
In line with this goal, our students who graduate from the department are entitled to become a "Professional Tourist Guide" licensed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, if they participate in the practice tours organized by the professional association of tourist guides and if they are successful in the foreign language proficiency exam. Candidates who are entitled to become professional tourist guides will be able to provide professional tourist guide services in the desired language for individual or group tours in the country and abroad.
Moreover, they can continue their education life with postgraduate education such as master's and doctorate. They will also have the opportunity to work in many fields such as Travel Agencies, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Provincial Directorates of Tourism, Public Museums and Palaces, Hotel Management, Airline Management and so on.
 
Mission
To train qualified professional tourism guides for the tourism sector, which is constantly developing with education and training in which scientific methods are applied. In this direction, he has a good command of foreign languages, knows and introduces Turkey in the best way with its history, culture, geography and all its values, has effective communication skills, can think analytically, has advanced knowledge and skills of problem solving, management and organization, crisis management, tolerance. The mission of the department is to train professional tourist guides who have basic values such as kindness, respect, honesty, and leadership and representation skills.

Achievements of the Tourism Guidance Department
∗ Reading, comprehension, speaking and writing skills at the B2 level of the European Language Portfolio in English.
∗ Reading, comprehension, speaking and writing skills in Russian, Spanish and Arabic at the B1 general level of the European Language Portfolio.
∗ To communicate effectively in written, verbal, non-verbal and visual terms and demonstrates presentation skills in the field of tourism.
∗To generate professional knowledge from the data obtained in the field, synthesizes, analyzes, interprets and evaluates the information produced; becomes ready for use in his profession.
∗To use the acquired knowledge in the management of tours and in solving the problems that may be encountered.
∗To know social and professional ethical values, evaluates them with a critical perspective and has appropriate behaviors.

Graduation Requirements;
• To successfully complete at least 240 ECTS credits in compulsory and elective courses determined as a result of 8 semesters of education;
• To complete at least 30% (72 ECTS) of 240 graduation credits with English courses.
 Conditions of Being a Professional Tourist Guide;
• Practice Trip: To complete the practice tour organized by TUREB under the supervision and control of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and to be successful in the exam held at the end of the trip.
• Foreign Language Proficiency: Having not lost the validity period of YDS and having at least the score determined in accordance with the relevant legislation (75 points) or an equivalent achievement certificate determined by OSYM, or to be successful in a foreign language exam held by TUREB under the supervision and control of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
